Melodic Intervals and their origins

In this video, Melodic Intervals and their origins in Western music are explained – Semitones, tones, Comparison of Plainsong and folksong with emphasis on the whole tone and the similarity between religious and secular song in Medieval times. Introduction of melodic thirds, fourths, fifths sixths and sevenths along with the concept of ‘note families’ (scales and modes).
